Roma Soul Food is an European cooperation project funded by the Creative Europe Programme leading up to its closing event on August 29 2026. The project highlights contemporary Roma culture as a dynamic practice that honors tradition while challenging historical stigmatization and marginalization. Through extensive field research and artistic expression, the initiative connects Roma music with Roma gastronomy.

Between March and November 2025, the project gathered 31 oral history and culinary interviews across settlements in Serbia, Greece, and Slovenia. Raw interview recordings are archived on Zenodo, while subtitled excerpts and transcripts are publicly available on the official project website. A major highlight is an eight track digital album produced by Tihomir Radić Toshi and supervised by musicologists Dr Maja Vasiljević and Dr Biljana Leković. The album features prominent artists including Pretty Loud, Džipsii, and Ivan Kurtić, blending modern genres like hip hop, trap, and flamenco with traditional sounds and the Romani language.

The project is driven by three key partners. CEPOM from Serbia serves as the project coordinator managing overall activities and the digital music component. QUALIA from Greece leads the collection of oral interviews and testimonies regarding Balkan Roma culinary traditions. EPEKA from Slovenia manages communication and dissemination while contributing extensive expertise in Roma social inclusion and social entrepreneurship. The project results are supported by Sokoj, the Organization of Music Authors of Serbia, and OFPS, the Organization of Phonogram Producers of Serbia.
