Rafail Sramadanis

“Back in the day, hedgehogs were considered one of the greatest delicacies”

Tyrnavos, 2025.

Mr. Rafail Sramadanis was born and raised in the Kritiri Roma settlement in Tyrnavos as the youngest child in his family. Unlike older generations, his family has a permanent home with a kitchen inside. His favorite dish is stifado, a stew of onions, tomato, and chicken, which he described in detail, including the recipe. During Christmas, the family enjoys pork with leeks, while Easter traditions include roasted lamb and boiled eggs. It is customary for the family to gather at one house and then visit others over the following 2–3 days. He experienced significant stage fright during the interview, but he was also a little bit nervous because he had to go to his class.
