Maria described a daily routine centred around caring for her household through food. She wakes up early and goes shopping for meat and groceries, ensuring that the family always has what they need. Her favourite meal is spaghetti with minced meat, and although she never drinks coffee, she smokes heavily throughout the day. She shared that one of the dishes she cooks most often is beans in red sauce, served with freshly baked bread—a recipe passed down from a relative and now a staple in her home. When it comes to celebrations, she never makes desserts herself; instead, she prefers to buy them, maintaining her role as the person who provides, selects, and prepares the savoury foods that sustain the family.
